Data Protection

From the 25th May 2018, new regulations will be introduced which affect how all Schools handle people’s data. This is called the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Under this legislation there are some key data protection principles and rights of data subjects. The key rights of this legislation are indicated below:

  • Right of access.
  • Right to rectification of factually inaccurate data.
  • Right to erasure/right to be forgotten.
  • Right to restrict processing.
  • Right to object.
  • Right to portability.

Compliance with the regulations will be an ongoing process and the school have appointed a ‘Data Protection Officer’ (DPO) to advise and manage compliance with the regulation. Full details of our DPO can be found below, should you have any questions.

We will be publicising policies and procedures and notices that are compliant with the new regulations in the coming months and will keep you informed of any developments. For the time being, your child’s data will be handled in the same manner in accordance with legal principles.

In the meantime we thank you for your patience whilst we take the necessary steps set by the new legislation and guidance with handling data.

Data Protection Officer (DPO): Mrs Kerrie Reeves

For any queries relating to data or your right to access data stored about yourself please contact our DPO at the following email address:  DPO@waterside.hants.sch.uk
